Al-Kathiri Holds Virtual Meeting with Senior Officials from UN Special Envoy Offices in Amman and the Capital Aden
Mr. Ali Abdullah Al-Kathiri, Chairman of the National Assembly of the Southern Transitional Council...
Dr. Saleh Mohsen Al-Haj, head of the Foreign Affairs Authority of the Southern Transitional Council (STC), met today in the capital, Aden, with the UN Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator for the country, Mr. Julien Harneis.
The meeting discussed the latest political, economic, service-related, and living conditions in the South, along with development dossiers, humanitarian response, and the empowerment of youth and women.
Dr. Al-Haj reaffirmed the commitment of the Southern Armed Forces to the decision of President Aidarous Qassem Al-Zubaidi regarding the general amnesty and that they have not committed any humanitarian violations, contrary to what some media outlets have promoted.
Al-Haj called on all international organizations, as well as civil society and human rights groups, to observe the situation on the ground and ascertain the reality of conditions in the city of Seiyun, affirming the STC’s readiness to provide all required facilities for the work of these organizations.
He clarified that there has been no negative change in the living conditions in the city of Seiyun, noting that the intervention of the Southern Forces to secure Hadramaut Valley came as a result of security disturbances and to cut off arms smuggling routes to the terrorist Houthi militias.
For his part, Mr. Harneis affirmed continued coordination and cooperation with the STC, particularly regarding humanitarian aspects.
The meeting was attended from the Foreign Affairs Authority side by Dr. Najeeb Qayid, Director of the International Organizations and Human Rights Department, while from the UN side, Mr. Zakaria Saeed, Assistant to the Resident Coordinator.
