Southern Transitional Council

The Southern Transitional Council (STC) is a leading national transitional body for the South, based on the pre-May 22, 1990 borders. It was formed by a decree of President Aidarous Qassem Abdul-Aziz Al-Zubaidi, who was popularly carte-blanched under the Aden Historic Declaration on May 4, 2017, according to the following founding principles:

A National Entity:

Championing as a standard-bearer the cause of the people of South Arabia and their national liberation project.

Representing the interests and aspirations of all segments of society, regardless of their political, cultural, or social affiliations.

Its leadership is composed of different segments and spectra of society, including revolutionary, political, social, and professional sectors. It is neither to replace these components nor to negate their existence or their individual political projects, nor does it eliminate the differing perspectives and visions. Instead, it fosters dialogue to reach consensus or, in the future, refers to the will of the people of the South through referenda and elections.

It is neither a party nor a political, social, sectarian, or elitist component with a political project specific to its members, followers, and supporters. Rather, it is a national leadership framework that organizes and coordinates the capacities and potentials of the forces and elites of the people of the South towards achieving their goals and aspirations.

A Leading Entity

Its institutional foundation is built on intellectual and emotional affiliation and loyalty to the goals and objectives of the national liberation project it carries, rather than on formal membership as commonly understood in organizational affiliations (political, partisan, or societal).

Furthermore, it frames and organizes the political and field work of the revolution of the people of the South, encompassing both the peaceful Southern Movement and the Southern Resistance, towards achieving the goals for which the blessed martyrs and brave fighters of the peaceful Southern Movement and the Southern Resistance ultimately sacrificed their precious souls.

A Transitional Entity

Its mission is defined by leading the people of the South to fulfill the entitlements and tasks of the national liberation phase, culminating in the formation of the institutions of its independent national state. Once this mission is accomplished, the STC will be dissolved, and its leaders and members may reorganize themselves within any political framework in accordance with the constitution and laws of the coming state of the South.
