Major General Ahmed Saeed bin Brik, the Chairman of the National Assembly of the Southern Transitional Council, met on Wednesday, at the headquarters of the Assembly, with the Head of the Southern Anti-Corruption Commission in Abyan Governorate, Sheikh Abu Bakr Al-Aweni.
The meeting, which included Dr. Anis Luqman, Vice-Chairman of the National Assembly, discussed the general conditions in Abyan governorate, foremost among which is the suffering of citizens from the lack of basic services, and issues of rampant corruption in all its institutions, as well as the insecurity in the central regions, and the wide spread of elements of terrorists backed by Muslim Brotherhood militias.
The Chairman of the National Assembly listened from Sheikh Abu Bakr to a detailed explanation of the commission’s activities and the obstacles and problems encountering its work in monitoring the rampant corruption in the state institutions.
Major General Bin Brik stressed the importance of concerted efforts to combat all kinds of corruption, and that all human rights institutions and civil society organizations play their role in that, noting that the leadership of the Southern Transitional Council pays special attention to Abyan governorate and its issues.
Major General Bin Brik noted that Abyan governorate is an important focal point for the liberation of the rest of the governorates, stressing that the current phase of the south is an important turning point, and the internal front of the governorate must be strengthened and unified.
