The Secretary General of the Presidency of the Southern Transitional Council, Mr. Ahmed Hamed Lamlas, said that the Transitional Council has and is still dealing with responsibility for the success of the Riyadh Agreement on the basis of its conviction that the implementation process will contribute in correcting the distortion that accompanied the state throughout the previous periods and produced a dark situation that in turn reflected on the lives of citizens and caused weakness at the Arab Coalition front in the face of the Houthi rebels.
The Secretary-General's speech came in the consultative meeting organized by the Political Department of the General Secretariat of the Presidency of the Council with a group of academics, intellectuals and politicians, and a number of officials of research centers, studies and research in Aden the capital.
The Secretary-General reviewed the efforts of the Transitional Council and its movements at all levels, pointing out that the Transitional Council dealt with political files and internal situations with responsibility and patriotic sense and was keen on giving priority to the supreme interest of the country over personal and factional interests in a way that contributes to preserving and strengthening the national cohesion towards restoring state institutions to play their role in securing people's lives and lifting the country out of its difficult economic situation.
The Secretary-General noted that the Transitional Council, through its adherence to the obligations of the Riyadh Agreement, demonstrate to its sponser the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the other party and even to the regional and international communities that the Transitional Council's intentions are sincere, sound and serious in proceeding with the road map set by the Saudi to achieve the goals of the agreement.
The Secretary-General added: "We have shown to the world before that we are the true force on the ground that has confronted terrorism and extremism and succeeded in drying its sources and contributed to establishing security and stability in our regions, and we have proven to the world through our engagement in the Agreement that we are ambassadors of peace and eager for the modern civil state."
For his part, Major General Salem Al-Sagtari, Assistant Secretary-General of the Presidency of the Transitional Council, said: "The political and academic elite is the segment on which it depends in creating ideas, in creating and consolidating community awareness, in strengthening ties and national cohesion, and fortifying the home front, and we rely heavily on them to adopt a political discourse that clarifies public opinion." Dr. Khaled Bamdhaf, head of the political department in the General Secretariat, indicated that the political department is keen to hold such meetings based on its vision on the necessity of exchanging opinions, knowledge, observations and informing with political analytical readings from those with expertise, thought and politics.
He spoke amply about the importance of the Riyadh Agreement, its implications and dimensions, stressing that it is the first true representation of the South and giving the Transitional Council the right to express the southern popular will, and today we are required to consolidate these political gains to achieve the hopes and aspirations of the people of the South.
The meeting witnessed discussions among its participants, providing objective political readings, political consultations based on facts, legal arguments, logical research studies, and possible future scenarios.
