Dr. Nasser Al-Khubaji, member of the Presidincy of the Southern Transitional Council, Head of the Negotiation Affairs Unit, Head of the Transitional Council Team in the Joint Committee to follow up the procedures of implementing the Riyadh Agreement, received at his residence in Saudi Arabia, Helen Winterton, the official of the Arabian Peninsula Department at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office in the United Kingdom of Britain, accompanied by Ambassador Michael Aaron.
Dr. Al-Khubaji expressed the Southern Transitional Council’s great gratitude for the UK’s efforts to bring peace and stability to the region, and the important and strong political relationship with UK, that looking forward to be enhanced in the future.
Dr. Nasser Al-Khubaji previewed the directives of the President of the Southern Transitional Council on the necessity of positive engagement and implementation of the terms of the Riyadh Agreement, pointing to his continuous follow-up to the progress of the implementation process and his keenness to support the prominent role embodied by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, stressing that the Southern Transitional Council has always been seeking peace and stability and seeking to solve problems through dialogue as an ideal way to overcome crises.
Al-Khubaji stressed on the role of the Shabwani elite and the security belt in Abyan and Shabwa in combating terrorism and bringing security and stability during the last period, pointing to the importance of speeding up the implementation of the terms of the Riyadh Agreement to reach the restoration of security and stability in various regions of the south, in particular Abyan and Shabwa and the acceleration of the redeployment of the security belt forces and the Shabwani elite to exercise their duties and roles in maintaining security and social peace, combating terrorism, securing energy export lines and the international shipping lines, and combating illegal immigration.
Al-Khubaji praised the role of the Arab coalition led by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates in supporting the southern forces to combat terrorism and crimes and restore security and stability in the south.
For their part, the two British officials expressed their great happiness for the positive spirit displayed by the Transitional Council to implement the Riyadh Agreement, and stressed that the United Kingdom urges everyone and hopes that they accelerate the implementation of the Riyadh Agreement, as delaying implementation increases obstacles to the peace process.
The meeting was attended by members of the Presidency of the Transitional Council and the Joint Committee in Riyadh, Mr. Ali Al Kathiri and Eng. Adnan Al Kaf.
