Cultural Department of Southern Transitional Council organizes seminar to promote civic awareness and establish peaceful protest culture

The cultural department at the General Secretariat of the Southern Transitional Council organized symposium entitled "Culture of Civil Disobedience," as a contribution of the Council to promote civic awareness and to establish the culture of peaceful protesting in all its forms and manifestations.
At the beginning of the seminar, the head of the Cultural Department, Amr Mohamed Aqeel, delivered a speech welcoming the attendees, and conveying greetings of President Aidaroos Qasem Al-Zubaidi and members of the Transitional Council Presidency, stressing that the Southern Transitional Council will continue to support the legitimate demands of the masses.
 The seminar was attended by 31 participants from the revolutionary escalation committee in Aden, lawyers, jurists, educators, journalists, media and independent youth, and presented specialized papers devoted to civil disobedience. Tamani Ali Saif, a lecturer of social work at the Faculty of Arts, in Sana'a University, presented a paper of dealing with the history of civil disobedience in the south and the developments of its events since then until present, followed by a paper presented by Haytham Jawas, a lecturer at the Faculty of Economics, who presented his paper of definitions, concepts, principles, and objectives of civil disobedience.
In an interactive and participatory atmosphere by the participants, the seminar produced a number of recommendations and new knowledge related to the subject of the symposium. It also presented to the participants a reportage summarized the popular movement of civil disobedience in the south.
