The Approval of the Festive Program for the 14th October Celebrations

The  Preparatory Committee for the 54th anniversary of the  14th  October revolution continues its meetings under the chairmanship of  Major General Saleh Ali Zangul in presence of Aqeel Al-Attas
Member of the STC Presidency and head of the mass action department in presence of  heads of the working committees .

The meeting which was held on Sunday 1st  October 2017 ,firstly reviewed the developments in Abyan governorate where dozens of the inhabitants of Abyan and others regions were subjected to repression and arrests by the forces of the so-called legitimate government. The government forces  used live ammunition to target the participants who were about to inaugurate an activity to mark the 54th anniversary of 14 October revolution  and who have at the same time rejected to celebration the so called 26th September revolution . The people of Abyan governorate rejected the authorities intention to celebrate the occasion.

The meeting then discussed the plans and perceptions of the working committees which have been approved by the committees presidency and they are as follows :

- A cultural symposium on the 14th of October revolution since its launch until today with a view to evaluate its course through papers presented by academics and intellectuals .

- A poetry matinee presented by a number of poets .

- A maritime show including  a competition of racing boats carrying the national flags of the South .

- A Popular entertainment program which includes music  dances and games which reflect the culture of the South which will start on the eve of the revolution’s  anniversary.

Major General Saleh Ali Zangul Chairman of the preparatory committee, emphasized that we need to prepare a  faultless and well prepared program to be prepared for this great occasion. This occasion  is a significant and meaningful one which  holds  a historical reference in the lives of our people.
Zangul also went on to emphasize the importance of decorating the roundabouts and streets with the national flags of the South and distribute posters, stickers and logos which will reflect the greatness of this occasion .

For his part , Aqeel Al-Attas affirmed the need to implement appropriately all the programs and plans prepared for the occasion which carries  a very special meaning especially to the veterans of the revolution .

At the conclusion of the meeting , the preparatory committee called all the Southerners who are longing for the  independence to get together and participate at this great occasion in the capital Aden on the 13th and 14th , of October 2017 .
