STC Secretary General Attends Carnival Event Organised by Lahj Transitional Council to Mark 30 November Independence Day

Mr. Abdulrahman Jalal Shaher, member of the Presidium of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) and Secretary-General of the General Secretariat, attended the carnival and mass celebration organised by the local leadership executive body (LLEB) of the STC and the local authority in Lahj Governorate to mark the 58th anniversary of the glorious National Independence Day.

Mr. Waddah Al-Halmi, head of the LLEB in Lahj, delivered a speech in which he confirmed that the governorate today reaffirms its national presence in renewing the public mandate for President Aidarous Al-Zubaidi and the STC leadership. He pointed out that the widespread popular rally in the governorate reflects public confidence in the Southern national project.

Al-Halmi reiterated the support of the Council's headship in Lahj for the legitimate demands of the people of Hadhramaut in liberating the Valley and the Desert, and deploying Hadhrami Elite Forces (HEF) there, praising the heroic role of the Southern Armed Forces in defending the homeland and protecting national gains.

In his speech, the Governor of the Governorate, Maj. Gen. Ahmed Al-Turki, valued the role of the STC leadership in consolidating the presence of the cause of South Arabia at both the political and military levels, lauding the roles of the governorate in the stages of the national struggle until achieving independence on 30 November 1967.

During the event, a carnival-style parade in the cultural, sports, and agricultural sectors took place, expressing the rich and vibrant heritage and legacy of Lahj, emphasising the necessity of strengthening Southern belonging, and highlighting the importance of preserving identity and national alignment in facing current challenges.

The celebration event, which was held at Muawiyah Stadium, witnessed a large public attendance from various sectors of society in Lahj, and a massive public procession set off from in front of the General Water Corporation in Al-Hawta city, the downtown of the governorate, passing through the main street.

The procession was accompanied by revolutionary musical performances from the military band of the Southern Military Forces until reaching Martyr Muawiyah Stadium, the site of the celebration event, which began with the national anthem of South Arabia.

The event was attended by Dr. Aidarous Al-Yahri, a member of the STC Presidium, Maj. Gen. Mahmoud Al-Subaihi, Deputy Head of the STC Council of Advisors, Ahmed Al-Rubaizi, and a number of political and security leaders, along with large crowds from the people of the governorate.
