The STC Foreign Affairs Briefs International Media on Developments in the South

The Foreign Affairs Authority of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) provided on Thursday an extensive virtual media briefing with representatives from a number of major international media outlets, including Reuters, Agence France-Presse (AFP), The Washington Post, The New York Times, The Guardian, The Times, Axios, The National, Middle East Eye, and The New Arab.

The briefing was delivered by STC officials, including Mr. Abdulaziz Al-Sheikh, Head of the Media and Cultural Authority in the General Secretariat; Mr. Anwar Al-Tamimi, the official spokesperson of the Council; and Mr. Mohammed Al-Sahmi, the Council's Representative to the United Kingdom, in which they reviewed the latest security, humanitarian, and political developments on the Southern scene.

The STC highlighted escalating Houthi threats in the Red Sea and ongoing terrorist drone attacks against the governorates of the South and confirmed that these aggressions represent a hostile escalation that threatens regional and international security and noted that the Southern Armed Forces have been continuing their specialized counter-terrorism operations in coordination with regional and international partners.

Politically, the STC reiterated the call for a new and realistic political process that reflects the facts on the ground, indicating that the previous UN roadmap is no longer suitable for current developments, and reaffirmed that the two-state solution represents the optimal path to achieving peace and stability.

The STC also highly appreciated the UAE unwavering support in the fields of counter-terrorism and humanitarian relief, reaffirming the South's openness to advancing peace process and international relations based on mutual respect and shared development.

On the humanitarian front, the transitional council called for a comprehensive recovery plan to address the severe living and economic crisis, warning of the repercussions of declining international funding and the withdrawal of UN assistance, and urged that international organizations relocate their headquarters to the capital, Aden, due to its safe and stable environment.
