The STC Secretariat Warns of Worsening Public Service Crisis in the Capital Aden and Urges Urgent Electricity and Salary Solutions

The General Secretariat of the Presidium of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) held its periodic meeting today, Tuesday, at its headquarters in the capital, Aden, chaired by Mr. Abdul Rahman Jalal Al-Subaihi, a member of the STC Presidium and the General Secretary of the Secretariat.

The meeting discussed a report on the political landscape in the Southern national scene over the past weeks of October, presented by the Political Body, and dealt with the festival events held in the governorates of the South to mark the 62nd anniversary of the glorious 14th of October Revolution, as well as the program of President Aidarous Al-Zubaidi and his visits to several districts in Al-Dhale'a Governorate.

The meeting reviewed the most pressing developments across the South, focusing on deteriorating public services and the complete power outage in the capital, Aden, and the other governorates due to a halt in securing fuel supplies to power generation stations, amid an absence of fundamental solutions from the relevant authorities to ensure service sustainability, as well as the non-payment of state employees' salaries for a fourth consecutive month, which has exacerbated the suffering of citizens.

The General Secretariat reiterated the emphasis made by President Aidarous Al-Zubaidi during his meeting yesterday with the US Ambassador that stabilizing the electricity service and paying salaries are top priorities that brook no delay, and simultaneously urged the government and the PLC to assume their responsibilities in providing urgent solutions that durably end the suffering of citizens, which has reached unbearable and unacceptable levels. The secretariat asserted that the Transitional Council will remain standing with citizens in demanding their legitimate rights.

In a separate context, the Secretariat condemned the terrorist attack that targeted the headquarters of the 1st Support and Reinforcement Brigade in Al-Mahfad district of Abyan Governorate and commended the courage, valor, and high vigilance of the brigade's personnel, which thwarted the attempted attack, affirming that such cowardly terrorist acts will not deter the Southern armed forces from performing their national duty in combating terrorism and protecting the security and stability of the South.

During the meeting, Mr. Mohammed Al-Shaqqi, the Assistant Secretary-General for Governorate Affairs and University Coordinating Bodies, provided a comprehensive briefing on the key tasks and programs implemented by the Presidential Guidance and Oversight Teams in the governorates during the first half of October to enhance the Council's fieldwork in line with the requirements of the current stage.

Furthermore, the meeting reviewed an assessment report on the events held in the governorates of the South on the occasion of the 62nd anniversary of the glorious 14th of October Revolution, presented by Mr. Abdulaziz Al-Sheikh, Head of the Media and Culture Authority, and praised the positive impacts achieved by the massive mass rallies, which confirmed that the people of the South have been continuing their unrelenting struggle until the restoration of their fully sovereign state of the South.

At the end of its meeting, they reviewed a report on the activities and tasks of the General Secretariat's bodies carried out over the past two weeks, in addition to reviewing and approving the minutes of the previous meeting after incorporating the raised remarks.
