STC Secretary-General Discusses Ways to Bolster Peace Efforts with European Institute Delegation

Mr. Abdul-Rahman Jalal Shaher, the Secretary-General of the General Secretariat of the Presidium of the Southern Transitional Council (STC), met today, Sunday, in the capital, Aden, with a delegation from the European Institute of Peace (EIP), led by the senior regional advisors, Mr. Thanos Petouris and Mr. Luca Nevola, to discuss bolstering peace efforts in the region.

At the beginning of the meeting, which was attended by Mr. Anis Al-Sharafi, head of the Political Body, and Mr. Lutfi Shatara, Shaher welcomed the delegation of the EIP and affirmed the commitment and interest of the STC, led by the President Aidarous Al-Zubaidi, and its dedicated efforts for peace, accompanied by numerous actions to stabilize security and stability in the region.

The Secretary-General began by stressing the Transitional Council's readiness for joint cooperation and work to support peace and achieve security, touching on the importance of the international community viewing the situation in the South realistically and prioritizing key issues, foremost of which is the cause of the people of the South, and backing their legal demands to achieve their goals of restoring and building their independent federal state.

For his part, Al-Sharafi presented a summary including a number of points and steps taken by the Transitional Council in the context of the political process and the nature of the difficulties and challenges facing the STC in this regard.

The Institute's delegation praised the Council's efforts in various political and security aspects, supporting the complete consensus-driven and comprehensive view that brings everyone together towards common goals and clarifying viewpoints in this context, and highlighted the importance of placing the cause of the South on its appropriate track and channeling opinions and visions that advance the peace process throughout the region.
