Al-Muharrami Meets French Ambassador to Discuss Strengthening Bilateral Relations and Counter-Terrorism Efforts

Mr. Abdulrahman Al-Muharrami, Deputy President of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) and a member of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC), met on Sunday with the French Ambassador to Yemen, Her Excellency Catherine Corm-Kammoun, to discuss strengthening bilateral relations and ways to enhance cooperation and coordination in various fields.

During the meeting, Mr. Al-Muharrami reviewed the latest economic and humanitarian developments in the country. He outlined the progress made in the economic recovery plan and broad reforms, which have improved the value of the local currency. This positive development has led to lower prices for essential goods and public services, thereby alleviating the living burdens on citizens.

The two sides discussed the importance of joint cooperation in combating terrorism and confronting extremist organizations. Mr. Al-Muharrami highlighted the necessity of redoubling international efforts to support the government and the PLC in countering threats posed by the Houthi militia and other terrorist organizations that seek to undermine the region's security and stability.

Mr. Al-Muharrami expressed his appreciation for the French government and its embassy, noting their positive role in the success of the recent maritime security conference in Riyadh. He stated that the conference's constructive outcomes—including pledges to bolster the capabilities of the Yemeni Coast Guard to safeguard international navigation—will significantly support maritime security efforts. This enhanced support will improve the country's ability to protect its coasts and combat illegal activities in its territorial waters.

For her part, the French Ambassador reaffirmed her country's commitment to backing the PLC and the government to continue providing support in various fields, including counter-terrorism efforts, to promote security and stability in Yemen and the wider region.
