The General Secretariat of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) held on Tuesday its regular meeting, chaired by Mr. Abdulrahman Jalal Shaher, a member of the STC Presidium and Secretary-General of the Secretariat.
At the beginning of the meeting, the Secretariat saluted the Southern Armed Forces (SAFs) on the occasion of the 54th anniversary of the founding of the Army of the South, which is commemorated every year on September 1, praising the heroic role they perform in bolstering security and stability in the governorates of the South and the entire region.
The meeting listened to a comprehensive briefing on the performance of the presidential guidance and oversight teams by Mohammed Al-Shaqqi, Assistant Secretary-General for Governorate and University Coordination Bodies, who discussed the key activities carried out by the teams during the past week.
The meeting discussed a report from the Social Affairs Authority on the latest developments in the situation caused by the air depression and the aftermath of the flash floods and the damage they caused in the capital, Aden, and other governorates of the South, and outlined the emergency measures taken to deal with these damages and the destruction.
Likewise, the meeting reviewed a report on the economic and public service landscape in the Southern national arena for the past month of August. The report highlighted developments concerning the exchange rate of the local currency, the ongoing electricity crisis, and the process of salary disbursements. It further detailed the impact of these conditions on citizens' lives.
Finally, the Secretariat reviewed the minutes from its previous meeting and formally approved them after incorporating raised remarks.
