Under the esteemed patronage of President Aidarous Qassem Al-Zubaidi, President of the Southern Transitional Council (STC), the Education, Youth, and Sports Commission at the General Secretariat of the STC orchestrated on Wednesday a celebrative event honoring the top students who graduated from secondary school in the South for the year 2024-2025, in the capital Aden, amid a prominent official and educational presence led by Mr. Ali Abdullah Al-Kathiri, Chairman of the National Assembly, and Mr. Abdulrahman Jalal Shaher Al-Subaihi, Secretary General of the General Secretariat.
In the event which was attended by Mr. Essam Abdo Ali, Deputy Chairman of the National Assembly, Eng. Nizar Haitham, Deputy Secretary General, Dr. Abdulghani Ahmed Al-Shawthabi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education for Curriculum and Guidance Affairs, Mr. Awad Mubajer, Aden Governorate Undersecretary for Education Affairs, Al-Kuraihi Kanaan, deputy head of the Education, Youth and Sports Authority, and Dr. Nawal Jawad, Director-General of the Education Office in the capital, Aden, Mr. Ali Al-Kathiri delivered a speech in which he conveyed to the attendees the greetings of President Aidarous Qassem Al-Zubaidi, President of the STC and Vice Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC), appreciating the President's constant care for the STC.
Mr. Al-Kathiri proclaimed that such an excellent achievement, secured amidst the privations of war and considerable economic and service challenges, constituted a genuine triumph reflecting the resolve of the students, their families, and their society to prevail through education.
Al-Kathiri further praised the decision of the Southern Teachers Union to lift the strike and resume the educational process, calling on pupils to prepare with greater determination to engage in the educational process for this year, which coincides with the announcement of the launch of the National Academy for Leadership Preparation, which will form an incubator to create young leaders who contribute to the future in the South.
Mr. Al-Subaihi, the Secretary-General, asserted in his own remarks that the ceremony is a fruit of painstaking effort, diligence, and determination, signalling that the South’s scholars are the homeland’s hope and the bedrock of its future.
The Secretary-General pointed out that this occasion is not only a celebration of those who have achieved the highest grades but also a celebration of the future that will be built with the forearms and minds of these outstanding students, appreciating the responsible national position embodied by the Southern Teachers' Union in its decision to lift the strike to ensure the continuation of the educational process. He also expressed gratitude to President Aidarous Al-Zubaidi for his sponsorship and generous support for outstanding students and providing them with promising educational opportunities.
The honored students were represented by Miss Nora Abdullah Ahmed, one of the top pupils from the Socotra archipelago, who addressed the attendees in both Arabic and Socotri. She expressed the profound gratitude of the pupils and students to the STC leadership, led by President Aidarous Qassim Al-Zubaidi for his fatherly patronage, and described the event not merely as a celebration of achievement but as a message of confidence, a call for hope, a seed of the future planted in the soil of the South, and an incentive for further efforts and excellence.
The celebratory event was punctuated by a program of artistic and musical performances, culminating in the presentation of a commemorative shield to the leadership of the Education Ministry and the formal recognition of the top students in the scientific and literary streams from across the governorates of the South. The proceedings concluded in a convivial atmosphere imbued with a sense of pride and a commitment to the continued pursuit of excellence.
The event was attended by heads of bodies in the General Secretariat, heads of National Assembly committees, educational officials, and parents of students from different governorates of the South.
