The administrative body of the National Assembly of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) held its periodic meeting today, Thursday, headed by Mr. Ali Abdullah Al-Kathiri, Chairman of the Assembly, in the presence of his deputy, Essam Abdu Ali.
Mr. Al-Kathiri gave a comprehensive briefing on the recent economic developments and the measures taken by the Central Bank in the financial aspects, specifically the improvement of the currency exchange rate and stability of the local currency, and the subsequent relative improvement in the prices of commodities and foodstuffs, praising the efforts made by President Aidarous Qassim Al-Zubaidi, the STC President and the Vice Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC), in following up this economic recovery and ensuring its sustainability in improving citizens' livelihoods.
In the same context, the meeting listened to the weekly briefing provided by the Economy and Development Committee in the Assembly, which detailed the recent economic, financial, and commercial variables and the standard prices of commodities, in addition to following up on the government's efforts to achieve a gradual economic recovery in the country.
The body stressed the necessity of sustaining this improvement and intensifying oversight campaigns over currency exchanging operations to curb speculation and maintain monetary stability.
The meeting touched on internal organizational affairs of the STC, particularly the recent recommendations by the political leadership concerning the formation of Political Oversight Committees across the governorates of the South to follow up and evaluate the performance of local leadership executive bodies (LLEBs) and strengthen coordination with local authorities, aiming to enhance governance and activate the Council's centers and bodies throughout the South.
The meeting also discussed the report of the Assembly's Education Committee on the findings of the field visit to the Education Office in the capital, Aden, in addition to the proposal to establish a Teacher Support Fund as a step to stabilize the educational process and motivate the educational staff.
The meeting concluded with a review of the minutes from the previous meeting, several topics on its agenda, and the taking of appropriate decisions and recommendations.
