Mr. Abdul Rahman Abu Zara'a Al-Muharrami, Deputy President of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) and Vice Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC), met on Sunday in the capital, Aden, with Captain Nasser Mahmoud, Chairman of the Board of Directors (BOD) of Yemenia Airways, and Mohsen Ali Haidara, the company’s Commercial Director.
The meeting reviewed proposals to boost the airline’s commercial operations, enhance services, improve the customer experience, and build stronger partnerships with relevant stakeholders, while expanding Yemenia’s prospects and reach in the aviation market despite ongoing challenges.
The Yemenia BOD chairman reaffirmed their commitment to keeping pace with operational updates across domestic and international offices and broadening the airline’s destinations, in addition to dedicated efforts to continuously train and qualify staff to meet strategic goals.
Yemenia’s leadership held the Houthi terrorist militia responsible for the airline’s severe decline in recent years due to its hostile actions against airports and air navigation, hijacking of planes, and exploiting the aviation sector for military purposes that jeopardize flight safety and violate international laws.
Mr. Al-Muharrami emphasized the urgent need to advance the aviation sector as a vital artery for economic growth and a key enabler of mobility for people and goods, stressing the importance of providing technical and institutional support to Yemenia, ensuring its compliance with international aviation safety standards, and the need to strengthen coordination with government bodies and international aviation bodies to activate technical partnerships that would boost the airline’s capabilities and provide better service for citizens.
