Mr. Fadi Baoum, a member of the Presidium of the Southern Transitional Council (STC), met Wednesday in the capital, Aden, with Mr. Albert Scott, Director of the Office of the United Nations Special Envoy, and the office's head of political affairs, Ms. Tamna Ahmed Obaid.
During the meeting, attended by several political and community figures, the focus was on key political and security issues, including the future of the political process, ceasefire implementation, confidence-building measures, and establishing balanced representation in light of the aspirations of the South for recognition of their political cause.
Discussions also centered on the situation in Hadramawt, a strategically vital governorate both politically and economically, with both sides underscoring the urgency of stabilizing the governorate.
Mr. Baoum reaffirmed the STC's commitment to engaging with the international community and constructively participating in all political tracks aimed at achieving a just and comprehensive solution that seriously takes into account the aspirations of the people of the South and reflects the reality of the land and political identity.
At the end of the meeting, the attendees stressed the necessity of maintaining communication and coordination channels among southern representatives of the South and the international community as a step towards enhancing stability and establishing equitable foundations for any future political settlement.
