The STC Relief Commission Discusses with OCHA Urgent Humanitarian Interventions for IDPs of Qurain Village in Al Mussaimeer

Lawyer Niran Souqi, head of the Humanitarian Aid and Relief Commission (HARC) of the Presidium of the Southern Transitional Council (STC), received on Sunday, in the capital Aden, Mr. Saeed Hirsi, Deputy Director of the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) in the country, accompanied by Ms. Rania Abdul Rahim, Humanitarian Affairs Officer.

During the meeting, which was attended by Brigadier General Pilot Nasser Al-Saadi, head of the Community Authority, and Dr. Najeeb Qayid, Director of the Department of International Organizations and Human Rights at the Foreign and Expatriates Affairs Authority (FEAA), they discussed the deteriorating humanitarian conditions of the 260 families displaced from the border village of "Qurain" in Al-Musaimeer district in the Lahj governorate, who were forcibly displaced to Wadi Al-Faqeer area due to frequent attacks launched by the Houthi terrorist militias on the village.

Lawyer Souqi outlined the commission's response to the internally displaced persons (IDPs) from conflict-hit border villages like Qareen, noting that field surveys were conducted to identify needs and provide support to the wounded in hospitals in the capital, Aden, in coordination with local authorities and concerned parties.

Lawyer Souqi urged immediate emergency interventions that include the provision of food, health care, medical supplies, sanitation, and shelter, noting that the conditions in the displacement area are extremely difficult and require an urgent response from all local and international humanitarian organizations.

For his part, Mr. Hirsi praised the cooperation with the STC and explained that OCHA continues with its partners to assess the situation in conflict-affected Qurain village in coordination with all concerned parties, highlighting the importance of mobilizing resources and activating the humanitarian response through local volunteer teams to ensure speedy and effective intervention.
