Al-Kathiri Meets Popular Committee to Reopen Thara Mountain Road and Highlights STC Support for Humanitarian Initiatives that Ease Suffering of Citizens

Mr. Ali Abdullah Al-Kathiri, Acting President of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) and Chairman of the National Assembly, met Tuesday with members of a popular committee coordinating efforts to reopen the Thara mountain road. The committee was led by Ahmed Omar Al-Abadi Al-Marqashi, a prominent figure among Southern prisoners of war.

At the beginning of the meeting, which was attended by senior STC officials, including Dr. Al-Khader Al-Saidi and Abdul-Nasser Al-Jua'eri, Mr. Al-Kathiri welcomed the attendees, conveying the greetings of President Aidarous Qassem Al-Zubaidi and reaffirming the support of the leadership of the council for humanitarian road-opening initiatives to alleviate the suffering of citizens and ease their movement.

Al-Kathiri listened to a briefing from the committee members on the results of their efforts and engagements with the local and security authorities in Abyan Governorate and the hardships citizens face due to Thara Road's closure, affirming that their on-the-ground initiative is strictly humanitarian and far from any political goals, with the aim of alleviating the hardship and achieving a breakthrough in the suffering of the people.

He further stressed that the local authority in Abyan bears the primary responsibility for assessing the public situation in the governorate and providing a comprehensive vision on the possibility of reopening and securing the road, and preventing any breaches that threaten the security of Abyan and the safety of its citizens.

At the end of the meeting, the members of the committee expressed their thanks to Mr. Ali Al-Kathiri for the warm reception and appreciated the great interest that the Transitional Council, led by President Al-Zubaidi, pays to humanitarian issues.

The meeting was attended by Brigadier General Nasser Al-Saadi, head of the community body assisting the STC Presidium; Mr. Ahmed Al-Rubaizi, deputy chairman of the Council of Advisors; Mr. Mohammed Al-Shaqi, assistant secretary general; Brigadier General Ahmed Hassan, head of the security department; Mr. Samir Al-Hayaid, head of the local leadership executive body (LLEB) of the STC in Abyan Governorate; Mr. Khalid Al-Abd, head of the National Assembly bloc in the governorate; Mr. Nasr Harhara, rapporteur of the National Assembly; Major General Mohammed Ali Hadi, head of the security committee of the National Assembly; and several military and security leaders.
