STC Assembly Backs Council's Leadership Emergency Meeting Resolutions

The Administrative Body of the National Assembly of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) held its regular meeting on Wednesday, headed by Mr. Ali Abdullah Al-Kathiri, Chairman of the National Assembly and Acting President of the STC.

At the beginning of its meeting, which was attended by Mr. Essam Abdo Ali, deputy chairman of the Assembly, the administrative body reviewed the developments of the worsening economic, service, and humanitarian situation and the government's deafening silence that is deemed disproportionate to the magnitude of the existing crisis.

During its meeting, the body held both the government and the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC) responsible for devising fundamental solutions to the deteriorating conditions, warning that the lack of seriousness in resolving these issues will fuel popular discontent, and the wave of ongoing protests in the capital, Aden, and the rest of the governorates of the South could potentially lead to further undesirable consequences.

In this context, the body voiced its full support for the decisions and recommendations issued by the leadership meeting of the STC, which was held recently and included the Transitional Council's ministerial bloc, the officials of the local authority in the capital, Aden, and the local leadership executive body (LLEB) in the capital, which comes within the framework of the efforts made by the STC's leadership to rescue the people of the South from the worsening multi-faceted living conditions they are suffering from at various levels.

In another context, the body expressed its rejection of the government's intended decision to raise the import customs dollar rate to 1,500 riyals per dollar, instead of 700 riyals, warning that taking such decisions, under the current circumstances, would represent a disastrous consequence that would exacerbate the suffering of citizens and reflect a sense of irresponsibility towards them.

The body concluded its meeting by discussing several reports submitted by its specialized committees, in accordance with their jurisdictions, and adopted the appropriate measures and decisions concerning them.
