STC Assembly Reviews Recent Economic and Public Service Developments in the South

The Administrative Body of the National Assembly of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) held its regular meeting on Wednesday, headed by Mr. Ali Abdullah Al-Kathiri, Chairman of the National Assembly and Acting President of the STC.

At the beginning of the meeting, the administrative body saluted the 31st anniversary of the declaration of Disengagement Day on May 21, 1994, reaffirming the determination of the people of the South to continue the unrelenting struggle until achieving the independence of the South as a homeland, a sovereign state, and identity.

The body stated that this anniversary comes amid escalating hostility and conspiracies targeting southerners and their political representative, the STC, with the aim of undermining its movement and sidelining its national cause, reiterating its unwavering commitment to the cause of the South and the cohesiveness of their political and popular struggle, until full independence is achieved and restoring and rebuilding the independent federal state of South.

The body subsequently reviewed the recent developments in the economic and service sectors and their impact on citizens in the South, including the popular protests that occurred in the capital, Aden, and the governorates of Lahj and Abyan. which emerged as a reaction to the continuous decline of basic public services and living conditions. In this context, the body denounced the deliberate assault on the security services that accompanied the recent demonstrations in the capital, Aden, affirming its rejection of such practices that derail the peaceful demonstrations and are exploited to undermine the South and the cause of its people, feul chaos, and destabilize its stability and civil peace.

Durung its meeting, the body discussed the directives of President Aidarous Qassem Al-Zubaidi, President of the STC and Vice Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC), regarding the reopening of the Dhale'a-Sana'a road, which comes in response to humanitarian considerations. The body deliberated on the various dimensions, repercussions, and impacts of this decision across different levels.

The body reiterated that this decision reflects the commitment of the political leadership of the South to prioritizing humanitarian concerns above all considerations. It emphasized to the implementing bodies the necessity of taking all required measures to achieve the humanitarian goal of the decision and to ensure it is not exploited by opposing parties aiming to destabilize security and stability or threaten civilian safety.

In another context, the body reviewed a report from the Assembly's Military Committee, which included an audit of military-related laws, legislations, operational data, and statistics to the committee's work. Additionally, a report from the Public Education Committee was presented, detailing the results of the committee's visits paid to several high secondary examination centers in the governorates of the South, and necessary measures were taken regarding both reports.
