The Woman and Child Department of the General Secretariat of the Presidium of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) concluded on Wednesday two training workshops on handmade crafts that targeted a number of girls with special needs and underprivileged families, coordinated with the Fund for the Care and Rehabilitation of Persons with Disabilities and the Woman and Child administration in the local leadership executive body (LLEB) of the STC in the capital, Aden.
At the conclusion of the two workshops, Ms. Tahani Qayid, Deputy Head of the Woman and Child Department, delivered a speech praising the participants' active engagement and reaffirmed the commitment to empowering women and girls in economic and professional fields, particularly those from the most vulnerable families.
Ms. Qayid explained that these two workshops come as part of an integrated program that aims to promote the capabilities of women and girls with special needs and enable them to become self-reliant by acquiring productive skills that contribute to improving their living conditions, noting that the department seeks to intensify such programs in the various districts of the capital, Aden, in the coming period.
During the training period, participants received theoretical explanations and intensive practical training provided by trainer Ibtisam Aqrabi, which included a range of craft skills that should enable the trainees to enter the labor market and achieve a sustainable income.
