Dr. Bassem Mansour al-Haushabi, Head of the Media and Cultural Department at the General Secretariat of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) and a member of the board of the National Media Authority of the South, met on Wednesday with Mr. Rafat Al-Thaqali, Governor of Socotra Governorate, to discuss key developments and initiatives in media, culture, and tourism across the Socotra Archipelago.
Mr. Al-Thaqali provided a brief overview of current progress and operational dynamics in media and cultural programs of the governorate, as well as its expanding tourism sector, which has seen a notable surge and has increasingly drawn international attention as a tourism destination for Arab and international travelers.
The meeting, attended by Mr. Saeed Omar, head of the STC’s Local Leadership Executive Body (LLEB) in Socotra, discussed mechanisms to boost media, cultural, and tourism initiatives, alongside strategies to coordinate efforts that reflect the unique biodiversity of the archeology, the sense of belonging, and promote Socotra’s distinct identity as an integral part of the broader heritage of the South.
