STC Presidium Emphasizes PLC and Government Must Return to Work from the Capital, Aden

The Presidium of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) held its regular meeting today, Thursday, chaired by Mr. Ali Abdullah Al-Kathiri, Acting President of the STC and Chairman of the National Assembly, in the presence of the STC's ministers in the government and heads of the auxiliary bodies.

In the beginning of its meeting, the Presidium listened to a detailed report presented by Dr. Ahmed bin Sanker, the deputy head of the Economic and Service Commission (ESC), covering the executive matrix of the government's plan to tackle the current economic challenges, including the key difficulties facing the worsening economic situation and the proposed alternatives to address them.

In this regard, the Presidium stressed the urgent need for the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC) and the government to return to the capital, Aden, to carry out their duties and assume their responsibilities towards the citizens, emphasizing that their continued absence is unacceptable, exacerbating the suffering of the people and leaving them to face their fate in the midst of dire economic and service conditions.

In a separate context, the Presidium reviewed the outcomes of a joint meeting, chaired by the acting president of the STC, with representatives from international organizations and missions, the government ministries and authorities, and top officials of the transitional council. In this regard, they reiterated the council's welcome of international organizations and missions, urging them to relocate their main offices and headquarters to the capital, Aden, reaffirming their readiness to provide all facilities and create the appropriate conditions and conducive environment for the implementation of their various projects and interventions in the humanitarian, development, and human rights fields in the capital, Aden, and across all governorates.

At the end of its meeting, the Presidium discussed a series of topics on its agenda, in addition to incorporating a range of assignments and decisions.
