STC Presidium Confirms Commitment to Articulating Demands of People of the South and Defending Their Rights

Mr. Ali Abdullah Al-Kathiri, Acting President of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) and Chairman of the National Assembly, chaired on Monday a joint meeting of the STC’s officials, representatives of international missions, aid, humanitarian and human rights organizations, and representatives of ministries and government authorities.
Mr. Al-Kathiri began the meeting, attended by Major General Kamal Hamshari, a member of the Presidium of the STC and Acting Secretary-General; Dr. Nasser Al-Khubaji, Head of the Political Commission assisting the Presidium of the STC; Dr. Mohammed Saeed Al-Zou'ari, Minister of Social Affairs and Labour (SAL); and several members of the STC's Presidium, by welcoming representatives of international organizations and missions, pointing out that this meeting came as per directives of President Aidarous Qassem Al-Zubaidi, President of the STC and Vice Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC).
Mr. Al-Kathiri explained that the purpose of the meeting is to consult and confirm that the capital, Aden, opens its arms wwelcoinwarmly welcoming and well-prepared to host all organizations and facilitate their work at all levels, indicating that the STC, the relevant government ministries, security, and local authorities will do their best to ease all difficulties and challenges that may hinder their work and create the appropriate conditions and conducive environment for the implementation of their various projects and interventions in the humanitarian, development, and human rights fields, as well as providing technical, advisory, and logistical support to them, if required.
During the meeting, Al -Kathiri emphasized that included representatives of the relevant government ministries, security and local authorities in the capital, Aden, the need to adhere to measures and facilities put in place by the PLC and the government regarding the completion of the relocation of the headquarters of international organizations from Sana'a to the capital, Aden, so that they can perform their duties away from the threats of the terrorist Houthi militia, and in a way that ensures its continued work, the safety and security of its staff, expressing in the context his condemnation of arbitrary arrests by the Houthi militia for UN staff, aid workers and members of civil society organizations.
The STC Acting President appreciated the continued commitment of the international and regional communities to supporting the country during these challenging times, as humanitarian needs continue to grow, and expressed his gratitude for the efforts of international organizations and their dedication to meeting humanitarian response requirements and contributing to comprehensive and sustainable development.
Subsequently, Dr. Nasser Al-Khubbaji delivered a speech in which he began by welcoming the representatives of international missions and organizations to the capital, Aden, reaffirming the STC's full readiness to work with them and open wide horizons for developing their work mechanisms, providing the necessary facilities to implement their interventions at the level of governorates in the South and liberated areas, and holding intensive bilateral meetings with them to listen to the challenges hindering their work in order to facilitate the smooth implementation of their programs.
The Minister of Social Affairs, along with representatives from the Ministries of Planning, Transport, Health, Industry, Commerce, and Security in the capital, Aden, also delivered brief remarks reaffirming their commitment to facilitating the work of organizations pledging to provide all required coordination, arrangements, and cooperation at all levels and to work side by side to enhance their operations and work.
In turn, several heads and representatives of the attending organizations presented a range of views, ideas, suggestions, challenges, and opportunities aligned with their organizations’ daily field and administrative work, expressing their deep gratitude to the STC and the relevant ministries and government authorities for the warm reception and generous hospitality, as well as the exceptional treatment, which will undoubtedly have a positive impact on serving the society.
