STC Assembly Emphasizes Imperative of Finding Immediate Solutions to Deteriorating Economic Situation in the South

Mr. Ali Abdullah Al-Kathiri, Acting President of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) and Chairman of the National Assembly, met today, Thursday, with Eng. Salem Al-Harizi, Minister of Public Works and Highways (PWH).
During the meeting, Mr. Al-Kathiri listened to a comprehensive briefing from Al-Harizi about the progress of work in the ministry, its associated institutions, its plans and programs for the next stage, the number of difficulties it faces, the projects it implemented during the last period in the capital, Aden, the governorates of the South, and the liberated areas, and the interventions required to enhance the performance of those projects in partnership with donor agencies.
Al-Kathiri was also briefed on the Ministry's progress on road projects, rehabilitation, maintenance, and urban development initiatives, along with the development plans being prepared, in addition to the stalled projects, analyzing their root causes and exploring suitable solutions and measures. The ministry's responsibility for overseeing the regulations governing the weights of goods-carrying trucks and their enforcement across governorates was also scrutinized, and proposals on the optimal utilization of the revenue generated from these regulations for road maintenance and preservation were sought in coordination with local authorities.
The Acting President of the Council emphasized the need to redouble efforts to expedite the completion of these projects, which will have a tangible impact on the lives of citizens, and reaffirmed the STC’s commitment to easing any obstacles that may arise in ensuring their on-time completion.
