The General Secretariat of the Presidium of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) held its regular meeting today, Sunday, at its headquarters in the capital, Aden, headed by Mr. Mohammed Ahmed Haidara al-Shaqqi, Assistant Secretary-General of the Secretariat.
The meeting discussed a political landscape report presented by the political department, which included the latest political developments on the Southern national scene as well as the STC's political and diplomatic activities on the international stage, led by President Aidarous Al-Zubaidi, to convey the voice of the South to international centers of influence, amid widespread support from the people of the South both at home and abroad. The report also touched on a range of domestic issues and events in the South, including pressing popular movements demanding political reforms and improving services.
The meeting focused on the deteriorating economic and social conditions in the South, particularly the soaring exchange rate and the collapse of the local currency, which is exacerbating the worsening of the economic and living conditions of citizens. Proposals and recommendations were put forward for the necessary measures to be taken by the relevant authorities to halt currency manipulation and curb inflation, in addition to a range of social issues, most importantly the phenomenon of growing religious centers, their management methods, and their approach to religious discourse, as well as the challenges arising from their establishment in their social environment and their potential exploitation for purposes that undermine the cause and aspirations of the people of the South.
The meeting reviewed the weekly activity report of departments of the Secretariat and the tasks carried out by the departments during the aforementioned period as per their various jurisdictions. In addition to reviewing and approving the minutes of the previous meeting.
