The Presidium of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) held its regular meeting today, Thursday, chaired by Mr. Ali Abdullah Al-Kathiri, Acting President of the STC and Chairman of the National Assembly, in the presence of the STC's ministers in the government and heads of the auxiliary bodies.
In the beginning of its meeting, the Presidium extended its congratulations to the masses of our people of the South, both at home and abroad, and their heroic Armed Forces on the occasion of the 61st anniversary of the glorious October 14th Revolution, expressing its pride and appreciation for the immense sacrifices made throughout the stages of our people's struggle for the sake of their freedom and the restoration and building of their state of the South.
In this context, the Presidium has extended its call for all our people of the South to actively participate and make a distinguished presence in the events and celebrations that will take place across all governorates of the South, themed 'Identity of the South.' to renew the pledge and loyalty to the liberation movement, reaffirm our commitment to national fundamentals, and continue the unrelenting struggle until we achieve all the noble goals of our people, foremost of which is the goal of restoring and building our independent federal state and achieving a just future that commensurate the ultimate sacrifices of our blessed martyrs.
Subsequently, the Presidium listened to a verbal briefing from Mr. Anis Al-Sharafi, Deputy Director of the Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Authority (FAEA) of the STC, on the outcomes of the bilateral diplomatic engagements held by President Aidarous Qassem Al-Zubaidi and his excellency's accompanying delegation on the sidelines of his participation in the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA79), with heads of delegations and representatives of participating countries in the session, as well as his meetings with members of the Southern communities in a number of US states.
The Presidium also commended the fruitful outcomes emanated from these engagements and mutual understandings reached in accordance with the proposal presented by President Al-Zubaidi regarding the need to develop a comprehensive approach, domestic, regional, and international, to seriously address the terrorism of the Houthi militia both on land and sea, as a crucial first step towards achieving peace and stability in the country and the region.
The Presidium praised the great interaction of the Southern communities in the United States with President Al-Zubaidi's visit and the accompanying delegation, indicating that this reflects the great and constant keenness of Southern people of the South in the diaspora towards their Southern homeland and national cause, supporting and highlighting it through all available means in international decision-making countries.
Furthermore, the Presidium reviewed a range of recent developments and miscellaneous, with particular focus on the continued decline of the local currency against foreign currencies and the impact of this collapse on the daily living and dire conditions of citizens.
In this regard, the Presidium has urged the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC), the Central Bank, and the government to assume their responsibilities in halting this accelerating deterioration and to take swift, transparent, and tangible measures that curb manipulators and expose suspicious parties working to create artificial demand for hard currencies with the aim of inflating prices in the local market.
At the end of its meeting, the Presidium reviewed the level of implementation of the tasks assigned in previous meetings, touched on a range of topics and issues related to the work of the central and local bodies of the STC, and took the appropriate measures in this regard.
