STC Assembly Reviews Woman and Child Committee Report

The Administrative Body of the National Assembly of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) held its weekly meeting on Wednesday, headed by Mr. Ali Abdullah Al-Kathiri, Chairman of the National Assembly and Acting President of the STC.

In the beginning of the meeting, which was attended by Mr. Issam Abdo Ali, Deputy Chairman of the Assembly, Mr. Al-Kathiri reviewed the ongoing preparations and arrangements to celebrate the 61st anniversary of the Glorious October 14th Revolution, which will be marked in the governorates of the South, emphasized the importance of active participation in this momentous occasion alongside the local leadership executive bodies (LLEBs) of the STC's leadership in all the South, and highlighted the profound political significance of this anniversary, which underscores the adherence of the people of the South to the goals of this immortal revolution.

In the context of his speech, Mr. Al-Kathiri touched on the fruitful results achieved by President Aidarous Al-Zubaidi’s visit to the USA to participate in the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York and his engagements with communities of the South in various American states, which had a positive impact on the souls of southerners there.

The chairman of the Assembly stressed the need to intensify efforts to implement the tasks assigned to all the STC's bodies in the coming period to enhance its role and presence on the ground and highlighted the positive role and tangible steps taken by the Committees of the Assembly in finding out about the citizens' conditions and bringing them to the STC's leadership for addressing and finding effective solutions.

In the same context, the Chairman of the Assembly urged members of the administrative body to continue monitoring and finding out about issues and concerns related to citizens and the overall situation in the South.

Furthermore, the administrative body discussed a report submitted by the Woman and Child Committee, which included a presentation on the current situation of women and children in the South, highlighting the ongoing marginalization of citizens of the South for over three decades, reviewed the various challenges faced by women of the South, and outlined a set of recommendations aimed at empowering them to actively participate in political life and decision-making processes. The report further emphasized the need to safeguard children, especially those with special needs.

At the end of its meeting, the body reviewed and approved the previous minutes, touched on a range of topics and issues related to the overall situation in the South and the work of specialized committees, and took the appropriate measures in this regard.
