STC Presidium Emphasizes Directing Activities of Religious Guidance to Counter Houthi and Terrorist Ideologies

The Presidium of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) held its regular meeting today, Thursday, chaired by Mr. Ali Abdullah Al-Kathiri, Acting President of the STC and Chairman of the National Assembly, in the presence of the STC's ministers in the government and heads of the auxiliary bodies.

In the beginning of its meeting, the Presidium highlighted the dangers posed by the Houthi-Brotherhood terrorist agenda in the South after both groups failed to undermine the hard-won achievements of the people of the South and its Armed Forces in countering Houthi aggression and dismantling terrorist cells in all its governorates.

The Presidium has urged the government, particularly the Ministry of Endowments and Guidance, to halt any activities aimed at causing harm to the South and the cause of its people, and to instead focus the ministry's efforts on countering the extremist ideology of the Houthis and terrorist groups that seek to distort the public's societal awareness inspired by the sound teachings of our moderate Islamic religion, warning against the dangers of continuing to bring in religious figures or scholars from outside the South to spread extremist Brotherhood ideology, and about the appointment of these preachers in mosques of certain districts of the South, and celebrating the September Revolution that has to be commemorated in Houthi-controlled areas in North governorates or liberated areas where the ministry's activities should be prioritized.

In another context, the Presidium discussed arrangements for celebrating the 61st anniversary of the Glorious 14th of October Revolution. It was agreed to hold the celebrations under the theme "Indigenous Identity of the South." In this regard, the Higher Celebrations Committee was tasked with presenting its final vision in light of the discussions held during the meeting and as per the directives of President Al-Zubaidi, and the vision will be submitted to the Acting President of the STC for approval.

At the end of its meeting, the Presidium touched on the remaining topics on its agenda. A key focus was given to reviewing the results of its previous meeting, which led to further recommendations aimed at enhancing women's roles and empowerment within government institutions. Furthermore, the Presidium discussed a range of organizational topics and issues concerning the performance of central, auxiliary, and local bodies of the STC and took the appropriate measures in this regard.
