STC Secretariat Calls on People of the South to Actively Participate in Commemorating 61st Anniversary of Glorious October Revolution

President Aidarous Qassem Al-Zubaidi, President of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) and Vice Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC), met on Tuesday evening on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA79), in New York, with HE Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, Foreign Minister of the Republic of India.
The meeting reviewed the historic ties with the Republic of India, as well as the close friendship between the two peoples, focusing on coordinating efforts to protect mutual interests and ensure the safety of international shipping lanes in the Indian Ocean, the Red Sea, the Bab al-Mandeb Strait, and the Gulf of Aden from acts of piracy and Houthi attacks that threaten global trade.
Politically, the high-level meeting, attended by Mr. Amr Al-Beidh, member of the STC's Presidium and Special Representative of the President of the STC for Foreign Affairs, discussed the latest developments related to the UN-led political process to bring about peace to the country. In this respect, President Al-Zubaidi reiterated the need for a comprehensive local, regional, and international strategy to reach just, comprehensive, and lasting peace in the country and the region.
At the end of the meeting, both sides agreed to bolster cooperation and strengthen communication channels to enhance bilateral relations and serve mutual interests.
On the sidelines of his participation in the opening session of the UNGA79, President Aidarous Al-Zubaidi met with the Prime Minister of the Republic of Timor-Leste, Mr. Kay Rala Xanana Gusmão.
During the meeting, both sides reviewed bilateral relations across a range of sectors and highlighted the importance of further developing these ties to advance the mutual interests.
