STC Acting President Gets Briefed on Transport Ministry's Workflow, Plans and Development Projects


Mr. Ali Abdullah Al-Kathiri, Acting President of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) and Chairman of the National Assembly, met today, Thursday, with the Minister of Transport, Dr. Abdul-Salam Humaid.

Mr. Al-Kathiri listened to Minister Humaid, who gave a comprehensive overview of the Ministry’s workflow and its affiliated corporations and bodies. He detailed the ministry’s plans and programs to enhance the quality of services at airports, seaports, and land crossings. Moreover, the minister outlined the process for granting licenses to companies operating in this sector in accordance with regulations and laws and the ministry’s efforts to find efficient and appropriate solutions to emerging challenges in a smooth and continuous manner.

The Acting President of the STC was briefed on the Ministry's efforts in implementing a number of development projects that are now underway, including the regional aircraft maintenance hangar project, the air cargo project, the maintenance and rehabilitation of Aden International Airport's runway, and the development and improvement of several other airport sites. In addition to that, the ministry has begun a field survey for the new Aden Airport and is preparing to open it up for investment, aiming to make it a regional aviation hub.

He praised the stepping up efforts exerted by the ministry and its ongoing commitment to improving the performance of its work and resolving any problems or challenges encountered in airports, ports, and border crossings, underscoring the importance of redoubling these efforts to better serve both domestic and international travellers.
