Mr. Ali Abdullah Al-Kathiri, Acting President of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) and Chairman of the National Assembly, was briefed on the efforts of the local authority in the capital, Aden, in the humanitarian field and sheltering internally displaced persons (IDPs), unlicensed immigration, and refugees.

This came during his meeting today, Tuesday, with Mr. Mohammed Abdul-Kareem Jubari, Advisor to the Governor of the capital, Aden, for Humanitarian Affairs, where Al-Kathiri praised the role of the local authority in facilitating the work of international organizations and others in all service and humanitarian fields, aiming to improve living conditions for residents of the capital, Aden, the IDPs, and refugees.

The meeting attended by Dr. Al-Khader Al-Saeedi, a member of the STC's Presideium, and Brigadier General Ahmed Hassan, head of the STC's Security Department, discussed a range of issues related to the IDPs and refugees in the capital, Aden, with a focus on the most prominent challenges facing local authorities as a result of their large-scale influx, as well as urgent solutions to address their situation and alleviate the burdens borne by the local authority and the government, in coordination with the UNHCR and relevant donor agencies.

Al-Kathiri affirmed the readiness of the STC, through its relevant bodies and committees, to provide all required facilities in order to address the issue of the influx of displaced people and unlicensed immigration by facilitating the process of voluntary return to their areas and rejecting any tendency to resettle them in the capital, Aden, and the rest of the governorates of the South.
