Mr. Ali Abdullah Al-Katiri, Acting President of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) and Chairman of the National Assembly, received today, Thursday, Ms. Zahraa Lenqi, Senior Adviser to the UN Special Envoy to Yemen for Gender and Inclusivity, and her accompanying delegation.
The meeting, which was attended by Mr. Anis al-Sharafi, Deputy Director of the Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Authority (FAEA) in the STC, and Dr. Najwa Fadl, Advisor to President Al-Zubaidi for Women's Affairs, reviewed the latest developments related to the UN-sponsored peace process. In this regard, Mr. Al-Katiri reiterated the STC's keenness on the success of peace efforts and its pursuit of a just and comprehensive peace with all relevant parties, and a solution to all issues, foremost of which is the cause of the people of the South, stressing that any political settlement that attempts to bypass the cause of the people of the South will neither succeed nor lead to sustainable peace.
Al-Katiri further highlighted the STC's commitment to empowering women and enhancing their role in all its bodies and institutions, commensurate with their significant political, economic, and social contributions, expressing appreciation for the UN's great support, especially in advancing women's empowerment programs.
At the end of the meeting, Ms. Zahra expressed her sincere gratitude to the leadership of the STC and the National Assembly for their good reception, affirming her dedication to implementing programs that would empower women and vowing to closely coordinate with relevant departments and bodies within the STC, as well as other organizations working in this sector.
