The Presidium of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) held its periodic meeting today, Thursday, chaired by Mr. Ali Abdullah Al-Kathiri, Acting President of the STC and Chairman of the National Assembly.
In the beginning of its meeting, which was attended by STC ministers in the government and heads of auxiliary bodies, the Presidium lauded the daily heroism of members and officers of the Southern Armed Forces in the governorates of Al-Dhalea, Abyan, and Shabwa in confronting the ongoing Houthi attacks and the militia’s desperate attempts at military escalation against the South.
The Presidium expressed its deep appreciation for the heroes of the South who teach the Houthi militias lessons in steadfastness and ultimate sacrifice to defend the sovereignty of the land of the South, offering their precious blessed souls and pure blood to deter the arrogance of those militias throughout the past periods, offering condolences to the families of the martyrs, and hoping from Allah, the Almighty, to shower them with mercy and forgiveness, and may He grant them a spacious abode in Paradise. In the same context, they gave directives to continue caring for their families and provide full medical care to the wounded until they recovered.
In another context, the Presidium discussed in its meeting the recovery and development plan for Yemen, expressing its reservations about what was stated in the plan and its complete disregard for the reality on the ground, and in this regard, calling on the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) to completely neutralize these two sides from the conflict. The politician whose roots extend to the summer of 1994.
The Presidium confirmed the STC's readiness to form a specialized team to work with the Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation and the United Nations to discuss, review, and amend the plan to accommodate the proper requirements for its implementation on the ground and ensure that it is not directed to achieve political goals by any party whatsoever.
In another context, the Presidium indicated that the STC is following with great interest the developments of events in some governorates of the South and the attempts at escalation and shuffling of cards, stressing the Council’s rejection of any unilateral measures to fuel political and military conflict in any of the governorates and calling on it to provide the appropriate conditions for the success of the comprehensive peace process sponsored by the United Nations, and that the official brothers in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia are exerting sincere and tireless efforts to bring it to success.
At the end of its meeting, the Presidium discussed a range of other developments in the local and international arenas related to the cause of the people of the South. It also addressed a number of organizational topics and issues related to the work of the central and local bodies of the STC and took the appropriate measures.
