In Meeting with Head of the EU Mission

President Al-Zoubaidi: The Cause of the People of the South will be at the Forefront of the Political Process Issues

President Aidarous Qassem Al-Zoubaidi, President of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) and Vice-Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC), virtually met today, Thursday, with H.E. Gabriel Munera Viñales, Head of the European Union (EU)  to Yemen.

The meeting reviewed the political developments in the country in light of the efforts made by the official brothers in the Arab coalition countries led by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the international community to durably end the war and bring about a lasting peace in Yemen.

During the meeting, President Al-Zoubaidi renewed the support of the STC for all the efforts exerted by the official brothers in the coalition countries, led by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, to end the conflict in the country and restore security and stability to the entire region.

President Al-Zoubaidi stressed that the cause of the people of the South should be at the forefront of the issues around which the political process will revolve, aiming to end the conflict in the region as per its special negotiating framework, with the consensus of the PLC and with the support of the official brothers in the coalition.

The meeting touched on the economic and humanitarian conditions in the capital, Aden, and other governorates. In this regard, President Al-Zoubaidi called on friends in the EU countries to intensify the humanitarian support provided to the government to mitigate the repercussions of the dire humanitarian crisis on our people in light of the continued suspension of oil and gas exports following the Houthi terrorist attacks, which targeted oil facilities in Hadhramaut and Shabwa governorates.

For his part, the head of the EU mission highlighted the keenness of the Union countries to support all efforts made to durably end the war and launch an inclusive and comprehensive political process to end the conflict and establish sustainable peace in the country.

Ambassador Viñales also renewed the position of the EU countries in support of the PLC and the efforts of the government to provide basic services to citizens, affirming the continuation of the EU countries in supporting the humanitarian sector by implementing a number of projects in the capital, Aden, and other governorates.

The meeting was attended by Mr. Amr Ali Al-Beidh, Member of the STC's Presidium and Special Representative of the President of the STC, Mr. Imad Mohammad, Office Director of the Vice-President of the PLC, and Mr. Anis Al-Sharafi, Deputy Director of the General Directorate of Foreign Affairs (GDFA) of the STC.
