Al-Khubaji Discusses Peace Endeavours with International IDEA

Dr. Nasser Al-Khubaji, Head of the Political Commission (PC) assisting the Presidium of the Southern Transitional Council (STC), head of the negotiations affairs unit, received on Wednesday in his office in the capital, Aden, a delegation from the International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance (IDEA), led by Mr. Zaid Al-Ali, the Director of Programs in Africa and West Asia at the International IDEA.

In the beginning of the meeting, Dr. Al-Khubaji welcomed the attendees, lauding the efforts of the International IDEA in the country and the region as a whole and reaffirming the position of the STC in contributing to promoting democracy, freedom, and human rights.

During the meeting, Al-Khubaji reviewed a range of files of common interest, the most important of which are developments in the comprehensive political process and the regional efforts being made to end the war and bring peace.

In turn, Mr. Al-Ali gave a satisfied explanation of the work and programs of the International IDEA and the response to national initiatives to strengthen the actors that build and protect democracy, stressing the importance of the participation of the active actors in the comprehensive political process, foremost among them the STC.

The meeting was attended by Mr. Mohammad Aziz Murad, Assistant Program Director at IDEA, and Mr. Shaker Badr, Project Coordinator in Yemen, and from the Political Commission, Dr. Khaled Bamdhaf, Deputy Head of the PC, and Mr. Mazen Mohammad, Director of the Office of the Head of the PC.
