Al-Khubaji Receives UN Envoy Office Head in the capital, Aden

Dr. Nasser Al-Khubaji, Head of the Political Commission (PC) assisting the Presidium of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) and Head of the Negotiations Affairs Unit, received today, Wednesday, in his office in the capital, Aden, Mr. Edward Jackson, Office Head of the UN Special Envoy in the capital, Aden, along with Mr. Bert Scott and Ms. Tamna Ahmed Obaid, in the Political Section of the Office of the UN Envoy.

In the beginning of the meeting, Dr. Al-Khubaji welcomed Mr. Edward Jackson and his team, affirming that their endeavours towards reviving the political process reflect the keenness of the UN to find real solutions to the crisis in the country.

Dr. Al-Khubaji listened to the office head of the UN Envoy, who gave a brief explanation of the content of the meetings held by the UN Special Envoy with the political parties, the latest developments related to the peace process, and the efforts being made by the UN and regional and international parties in this aspect.

The meeting touched on a range of topics and issues related to the political process, the proposals submitted by the envoy’s office on the mechanism of ceasefire and military de-escalation, and the levels included in these proposals.

In addition to that, the meeting referred to the ideas and visions that the UN envoy is working on with the political forces and parties, which include a number of tracks, with a focus on the economic and political files.

Al-Khubaji reiterated the necessity of the presence of the cause of the South in all stages of the political process, starting with the ceasefire phase and the subsequent stages, within its special negotiating framework as per the Riyadh consultations, as well as the rapid formation of the joint negotiating team to assume its tasks in the negotiating process.

The meeting was attended by Mr. Mazen Al-Radfani, Office Director of the Head of the PC, and Mr. Wahib Hassan, Director of Public Relations in the PC.
