The Economic and Service Commission (ESC) of the Presidium of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) held its periodic meeting today, Thursday, in the capital, Aden, for the month of August of the current year 2023, chaired by Mr. Murad Al-Halimi, head of the ESC.
The meeting reviewed a range of topics and issues related to the economic and investment situation in the South and the possible ways and solutions that would improve living conditions and provide job opportunities for young people by initiating the implementation of industrial, commercial, agricultural, and other projects.
The meeting asserted that such projects will work to involve the private sector, the southern national capital, and labor absorption as they push forward the wheel of production and growth.
The meeting focused on the possibility of rehabilitating some of the existing factories that still retain their assets, provided that an economic feasibility study be well-prepared in this regard in the context of restoring the civilized and historical face of the capital, Aden, and rehabilitating its infrastructure to have an attractive investment environment, in addition to working on evaluating and updating the master plan due to the distortions and random spread on the lands.
In its meeting, the ESC stressed the importance of resolving the overlaps and conflicting laws of sovereign institutions that negatively affected attracting domestic and foreign investments, reiterating the call for the need to expedite urgent reforms in the central bank to stop the collapse of the currency, and because of its importance in enhancing the commercial activity of the port of the capital.
The meeting came out with a set of recommendations in preparation for submitting to the Presidium of the STC to take appropriate decisions and actions.
