Head of NSMA Holds Joint Meeting with Director Generals of Media Offices in Governorates of the South

Mr. Salem Thabet Al-Awlaqi, head of the National Southern Media Authority (NSMA) of the Southern Transitional Council (STC), held today, Sunday, at the NSMA's headquarters in the capital, Aden, a joint meeting with several director generals of the media offices in the governorates of the South.

In the meeting, which was attended by Mr. Mukhtar Al-Yafe'y, deputy head of NSMA, Mr. Al-Awlaqi delivered a speech in which he emphasized the necessity of maintaining close liaison between NSMA and the media offices in the governorates of the South in a way that serves issues of development, security, and stability, and supporting local authorities to properly perform their responsibilities for the benefit of citizens, especially providing public services and boosting investment projects.

Al-Awlaqi highlighted that there are many commonalities and pressing issues, in which everyone must assume his national responsibility and duty, that require reaching orientations for a common media discourse, noting that the South faces security and military challenges from the Houthi militia and terrorist forces that necessitate confronting them with a solid national spirit.

In addition to that, the director generals of the media offices in the governorates gave an explanation of the conditions and functions of their offices, the challenges facing their media industry, and raised suggestions to promote the role of media and overcome such challenges.

The meeting discussed the political, service, and security conditions, ways to unify the media discourse, the relations between NSMA and the media offices in the governorates, aspects of support, qualification, training, activities, and events, as well as registering media institutions and professionals in NSMA, enrolling with lists of media offices in the governorates, and providing means of support for its work within the activities of the local authorities. Therefore, the meeting came out with a definite mechanism to communicate the media offices in the governorates of the South with NSMA and provide support for its work within the scope of local authorities.
