STC's Legal and Human Rights Commission Holds First Meeting

The legal and human rights commission (LHRC) of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) held its first meeting today, Thursday, in the capital, Aden, chaired by Dr. Sa'ad Mohammad Sa'ad, head of the LHRC.

The meeting reviewed a range of political and legal events, most notably the decrees of President Aidarous Qassem Al-Zubaidi relating to the restructure of the STC and its organizational regulations, urging the creative and strict application of what is contained in those by-laws and regulations.

While the LHRC praised the significant role played by the committee on restructuring and amending the regulations in the completion of its task and expressed its readiness to explain the regulatory by-laws to the concerned commissions and bodies.

The LHRC asserted that the Southern National Charter, which was signed in the outcomes of the consultative meeting, is a legal basis for the political partnership between the southern components during the current phase and the transitional phase of the State of the South.

Furthermore, the LHRC discussed the required legal measures to execute what was stated in the political statement issued by the meeting of the STC’s Presidium, which dealt with the difficult living and public service conditions resulting from the corruption of the government of Maeen Abdul Malik.

The meeting stood before a range of topics on its agenda and made the appropriate recommendations.
