Bin Brik Chairs Special Meeting of Southern Military Commanders and Security Officers

Major General Ahmed Saeed bin Brik, Vice President of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) and Chairman of the National Assembly, chaired today, Thursday, in the capital, Aden, a special meeting of the southern military commanders and security officers.

In the meeting, which began with a tributing mimute to read Al-Fatiha for the souls of the blessed martyrs of the South, Major General Ahmed Saeed bin Brik conveyed to the military commanders and security officers the greetings of President Aidarous Al-Zubaidi, President of the STC, Supreme Commander of the Southern Armed Forces, and Vice-Chairman of the Presidential Command Council (PLC).

After that, the meeting discussed the latest military, security, and economic developments in the southern landscape, the reasons behind the failure of the political process, and the military and security challenges and risks that may result from such challenges that target the overall success achieved by the South under the leadership of the STC.

Major General Bin Brik underscored that this special meeting comes as a proactive process to confront these challenges, mobilize the national and human resources for decisive and rapid reactions, nip them in the bud, and identify the direct mechanisms that the security men and the southern armed forces should follow to enhance the political choices taken by the leadership of the STC in response to the people's will, demands, and supreme goals.

Major General Bin Brik commended the victories of the southern armed forces at the military and security levels on the border fronts in combating terrorism, drugs, smuggling gangs and networks, emphasizing at the same time self-reliance and betting on the people and their armed forces.

Addressing the military and security commanders, the Vice President of the STC said: "We stand today at a crucial crossroads and turning points, which require us to fight in this existential battle with efficiency and effectiveness and to shoulder the historical responsibility at this crucial moment in which there is no choice but victory with flying colours at all cost".

The meeting identified a range of tasks and duties that military commanders and security officers should assume at the current stage, at the forefront of which is raising the degree of vigilance and maximum readiness, keeping an eye on any hostile activities, enhancing security deployment as per the well-prepared plans that accommodate current and future changes, and working to raise the efficiency of the personnel of the two defense and security institutions to be well-qualified to engage in any hostilities that may occur and perform security-entrusted tasks with efficiency, strength, and competence.

The meeting called on the commanders, officers, and personnel of the southern armed forces to strengthen cohesiveness, integration, and joint cooperation between the two military and security institutions and various sectors and segments of the people to combat negative disruptive phenomena, confront organized crime, and rein in corruption and corrupt people.
