The General Directorate of Foreign Affairs (GDFA) of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) held its periodic meeting in the capital, Aden, chaired by Mr. Anis Al-Sharafi, deputy director of GDFA.
At the meeting, which was attended by heads of departments of GDFA in the capital, Aden, and virtually representatives of its offices abroad, Mr. Al-Sharafi reviewed the developments of the comprehensive political process.
Furthermore, GDFA condemned the terrorist Houthi militia's escalation of its attacks on the border frontlines of the South, the latest of which was yesterday, Saturday, with a drone on the Harib border frontline, which caused the death of a soldier from the third Brigade, Shabwa Defense.
On this subject, it warned against overlooking the aggressive attacks launched by the terrorist Houthi militia, calling on the regional and international community to intensify pressure to curb the arrogance, intransigence, and attacks of those Houthi militias.
The meeting, too, reviewed the developments of the Southern National Dialogue Team (SNDT) and the ongoing arrangements and preparations for holding the Southern Consultative Meeting, which constitutes a pivotal station on the roadmap to strengthening southern national cohesiveness.
Similarly, GDFA affirmed that the STC will
definitely remain widely open to dialogue with all the proactive forces, components, in-groups, and personalities of the South to achieve a true national partnership in preserving and protecting the fulfilled gains and restoring and building the major building blocks of the independent federal state of the South.
The meeting stressed the importance of
enhancing the role of the representatives of GDFA in boosting communication and coordinating efforts with the Southern Communities, as well as southern expertise and competencies in various foreign countries, in a way that contributes to strengthening the cohesiveness and rapprochement of the southern national position both at home and abroad.
The meeting discussed a report submitted by the Political Affairs and Planning Department on the activities and tasks that were accomplished during the first quarter of this year 2023, which included political meetings, studies, and research, in addition to political briefings on developments, positions, and activities.
The meeting reviewed briefings given by representatives of foreign affairs in a number of countries on diplomatic contacts, activities, and programs implemented during the first quarter of this year, and a range of decisions related to strengthening diplomatic communication and developing the performance of GDFA were taken.
