The Cultural Department of the General Secretariat of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) published the first issue of its monthly magazine, "Cultural South".
The editorial of the magazine, written by Mr. Fadhl Mohammed Al-Gaadi, member of the Presidium of the STC and Deputy Secretary-General, stated that the issuance of this magazine gives a broad overview of the cultural landscape of the South in all its physical, intellectual, folklore, and popular heritage.
Mr. Amr Aqeel, Head of the Cultural Department, indicated that what distinguishes the "Cultural South" Magazine is that it expresses the cultural policy and orientations of the STC, and targets all components of the community either public or educated elites, and reflects the overall cultural activities in the South.
The magazine aims to highlight the educational culture and various arts of the South. It also reviews the collective cultural memory of the people of the South and sheds light on the personalities who have made their distinctive mark in culture. Moreover, the magazine contains the Cultural Monitor, which reviews the destruction of heritage and obliterates the history and identity of the South, in addition to raising awareness among the community about the need to preserve the historical and cultural monuments and the archaeological features of the South.
