STC's Presidium Reiterates Firm Position to Side with People of Hadramout Valley in Accrued-right to Manage Affairs of their Areas

The Presidium of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) held its periodic meeting on Tuesday, chaired by Mr. Ahmed Hamed Lamlas, the Secretary General of the Presidium of the STC, Minister of State, and Governor of the Capital, Aden.

The Presidium stood before the topics included in the agenda of its meeting, foremost of which was the report submitted by the Internal Southern National Dialogue Team (ISNDT), which contained an overall review of implemented activities during the month of January 2023, the outcomes of the meetings held with the southern components and personalities,

and the ideas and visions that were presented in those meetings, in addition to a set of suggestions to reach common understandings and cohesively unify the southern ranks.

In this regard, the Presidium asserted its commendation for the great exerted efforts by the SNDT both at home and abroad to unite the southern national ranks and achieve cohesiveness, rapprochement, and in-group consolidation, noting the highly positive response shown by the southern components and personalities to the sincere invitation to engage in the dialogue process affirms their respect for the enrooted principle of dialogue and diversity within the framework of the supreme goal and common destiny of all the people of the South.

After that, the Presidium shed light on the latest economic, political, military, and security developments on the national landscape in the light of the analytical monitoring report submitted by the Decision-Making Support Center (DMSC) and possible ways and mechanisms to effectively deal with such topics.

On the economic aspect, the Presidium welcomed the cabinet’s decision to form a committee to study the resolution to raise the price of the customs exchange rate of the dollar, as well as the administrative tribunal’s judgement to cease the implementation of that resolution, reaffirming its firm position not to accept any decisions that harm citizens and multiply suffering and exacerbating daily living conditions, stressing in the context that reviving the economic situation begins with real measures to dry up the sources of corruption, rationalize unjustified expenditures in many non-vital sectors, and strengthen the principles of transparency and accountability.

On the military aspect, the Presidium reiterated its demand to urgently transfer the military brigades of the Military Division in the Valley of Hadramout to the confrontation fronts with the Houthi militia, and to hand over the security and military reins to the people of Hadramout, as stipulated in the Riyadh Agreement and Consultations, renewing in the context its firm position to stand by the people of the Valley and enable them to manage the administrative, military, and security affairs of their governorate.

To the end of its meeting, the Presidium touched on several topics and issues related to the work of the STC's bodies and took the appropriate measures.
