NSMA Holds Scientific Symposium on "Hucksterism of Muslim Brotherhood Media in Dealing with Terrorist Acts in the South"

The National Southern Media Authority (NSMA), on Monday, in the capital Aden, held a scientific symposium entitled; "Hucksterism of Muslim Brotherhood Media in Dealing with Terrorist Acts in the South" in presence of Mr. Fadl Mohammed Al-Jaadi, Deputy Secretary-General of the General Secretariat of Presidency of the Southern Transitional Council (STC), 

Mr. Ali Al-Kathiri, member of presidency of the STC, head of NSMA, at the symposium, which was also attended by members of presidency of the STC, Mr. Lotfi Shatara, Deputy chairman of the National Assembly, Dr. Suhair Ali Ahmed, and Eng. Nizar Haitham, delivered a speech, in which he initially conveyed to the attendees greetings of the president Aidarous Qassem Al-Zubaidi, President of the STC,

In his speech, Mr. Al-Kathiri indicated that this symposium focuses on studying role of the Brotherhood in supporting terrorist organizations to destabilize security, stability and social peace in the South, since 1990, and ways to confront extremist ideology and dens that make terrorist groups.

During his speech, Al-Kathiri overemphasized that the South has been and still an environment that expels extremist ideology intruding into our society, to the end of his speech, wished that the symposium would give evaluative recommendations of role and performance of media in dealing with terrorism and its facts, as well as presenting future visions to develop the media performance in addressing issues of terrorism.

During the symposium, three scientific papers have been presented, initiated by the researcher Saleh Al-Dawil Al-Awlaqi, with an intervention, entitled; "The Phenomenon of Terrorism in the South: Origin, Source, and affluence of Intellectual, Political, Social and Media", in which he spoke on role of Muslim Brotherhood in planting terrorist ideology among its followers through media and educational system against the South and its cause.

During the symposium, a paper presented by the researcher in American national security affairs, Arina Zuckerman, through a visual video, entitled "The war on the South is the essence of relation between the Brotherhood and terrorist organizations", in which she explained how this relation is reflected on media discourse of Brotherhood and its role in incitedly making political and military conflicts in the Arab world.

The researcher Abdel-Khaleq Al-Houd presented a paper entitled "The identification of Brotherhood Media Discourse with the Discourse of Terrorist Organizations", in which he reviewed role of the Brotherhood in the systematic incitement of terrorist operations and accommodating al-Qaeda and ISIS elements to implement terrorist operations in the South.

The attendees have raised many interventions and discussions that enriched the symposium, and reached to a number of recommendations and suggestions that would control and rationalize the discourse and message of media related to issues of terrorism, the symposium, which began with reciting verses from the Holy Quran, the Southern National Anthem, and standing for a tributing minute to read Al-Fatiha for the souls of the loyal martyrs of the South, displayed a visual film that deals with role of the Yemeni and Arab Brotherhood media in highlighting the discourse of violence and extremism through personalities belonging to terrorist groups against people of the South and the STC, which is the representative of the southern cause, and trying to destabilize security, stability and social peace in governorates of the South,
