Al-Jaadi: Union work is the beating heart of political process

Mr. Fadl Mohammad Al-Jaadi, Deputy Secretary-General of the General Secretariat of the Presidency of the Southern Transitional Council, affirmed that union work is the beating heart of the political process, and that southern trade unionists are important and have a great role in political and field work.

This came in a speech delivered by Al-Jaadi at the meeting of the Preparatory Committee of the Federation of Southern Trade Unions, which was held on Wednesday under the slogan “On the way to hold the founding conference of the General Federation of Southern Trade Unions,” under the patronage of the President of the Southern Transitional Council, President Aidaroos Al-Zubaidi.

The meeting was attended by Eng. Nizar Haitham, the member of the Presidency of the Transitional Council, Head of the executive body of the Transitional Council in Aden the Capital, in which Al-Jaadi praised those who attended the meeting and took the trouble of traveling, especially the leaders of Hadhramaut and Al-Mahra trade unions and the rest of the southern governorates, indicating that seeing them present greatly pleased him.

The Deputy Secretary-General also praised the level of preparation made by the Preparatory Committee of the Federation of Southern Trade Unions to hold the upcoming Southern Trade Union Conference, which they fought for and made all their efforts to during the last period.

Al-Jaadi added, "We are happy that you have reached this far that we hope to seek its results today, and through it we want to reach the level of the southern cause that we fought for and presented martyrs to gain it and obtain the justice it deserves."

Abdul Rahman Al-Attas, Deputy Head of the People Department of the General Secretariat, delivered a speech in which he welcomed the attendees, wishing success to the preparatory committee in holding the upcoming founding conference of the Federation of Southern Trade Unions, that will be the result of previous efforts that have paid off, and inevitably the goal is defending the rights of employees and workers of state institutions, and strengthening cooperation and cohesion in the interest of the South

For his part, Ahmed Al-Saghir, Chairman of the Preparatory Committee of the General Federation of Southern Workers Trade Union, spoke in a speech in which he explained that the next founding conference of the Federation of Southern Trade Unions will be represented by 117 delegates from all southern governorates, indicating that each general union has five members, while trade unions are represented in the General Federation by 6 members from Hadramout governorate, 4 members from Al-Mahra, 3 members each from Shabwa, Abyan, and Lahj, and 2 members each from Al-Dhalea and Socotra.

Al- Saghir pointed out that the conference will produce 61 members as a central council, including 15 members of the Executive Office, while the Control and Inspection Committee will include 7 members.

Al- Saghir revealed that the next Federation of Southern Trade Unions will continue for two years, and then the elections will be repeated again to elect new president and members.

The meeting came out with a number of decisions and recommendations on the way to holding the founding conference of the Federation of Southern Trade Unions.
