Al-Sokatri chairs meeting of Relief and Humanitarian Affairs Committee

The Assistant Secretary-General of the Presidency of the Southern Transitional Council, Major-General Salem Abdullah Al-Sokatri, chaired an extended meeting of the Relief and Humanitarian Affairs Committee in the Transitional Council, with the attendance of Dr. Abdel Nasser Al-Wali, the acting head of the committee, member of the Presidency Council of the Transitional Council, Head of the Transitional Council Local Leadership in Aden the capital, and lawyer Niran Sooki, member of the Presidency of the Southern Transitional Council, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly, and Dr. Salem Al-Shabahi, Head of the Corona Epidemic Response Committee.

The meeting discussed the effects of climate fluctuations and rainfalls in the capital, Aden, and the rest of the southern governorates, and resulted damages, as well as the efforts in the health sector to confront the dangers of the spread of the Corona virus.

Maj. Gen. Al-Sokatri previewed the results of his inspection visit to the affected neighborhoods in Al-Mualla district, noting that the torrential rains caused a disaster and difficult humanitarian situation, and resulted in loss of life and private property of citizens.

Major General Al-Sokatri stressed on the importance of making field visits to the affected and the afflicted, and working to speed up their relief and alleviate their suffering according to the available capabilities of the Transitional Council.

For his part, Dr. Abdel Nasser Al-Wali, directed the branches of the relief and humanitarian works committees in the districts of the capital Aden, to the urgent checking of the affected areas, especially the most affected ones in Al-Mualla, Crater and Khormaksar, and work to relief the affected people, as well as coordinate with the local and concerned authorities in order to remove the accumulated waste away from the public roads and facilitate the traffic.

Dr. Al-Wali discussed the work of the Relief and Humanitarian Action Committee and the Transitional Council Unit to counter the Corona pandemic, and its action plan at the level of the capital, Aden and the governorates.

Dr. Al-Wali also reviewed the efforts made to confront the Corona pandemic and the aid provided by donors, those by the World Bank through the World Health Organization and other international and humanitarian agencies and organizations.
