The Secretary-General discusses with Director of United Nations Office in Aden humanitarian and services conditions

The Secretary General of the Presidency of the Southern Transitional Council, Mr. Ahmed Hamed Lamlas, received on Thursday, at the Transitional Council's headquarter in Aden the capital, Mr. Marwan Ezzat Al-Ali, Director of the United Nations Office in Aden, and the Political Affairs Advisor to Mr. Martin Griffiths, the UN Special Envoy to Yemen.

In the meeting, the Secretary-General stressed on the importance of continuing meetings and coordination between the Southern Transitional Council and UN organizations and bodies with regard to the political and humanitarian situation in the South to alleviate the suffering of the people of the South due to the consequences of the war in the country.

The meeting discussed a number of issues, including the upcoming visit of the UN Assistant Secretary-General for Security and Peace Affairs to the capital Aden, and the Saudi-sponsored Jeddah Dialogue, as well as the efforts of the Transitional Council to address services problems resulting from deliberately disrupting the services of citizens by the government of Moen Abdul-Malik.

The Secretary-General reviewed the problem of providing fuel for power plants in Aden the capital and a number of governorates, as well as the problem of disruption the work of the Immigration and Passports office, which caused great suffering, especially for the wounded and sick who need to travel for medical treatment.

For his part, Mr. Marwan Al-Ali, expressed his satisfaction with the efforts exerted by the leadership of the Transitional Council, especially in the humanitarian aspects, stressing on the efforts of the United Nations to contribute in resolving the political crisis and end the war.

Al-Ali stressed his keenness to continue communication and meetings with the leadership of the Transitional Council to coordinate efforts and cooperation at all levels and aspects.
