Rights and Freedoms Department Hold a Workshop Marking 70 Years of Human Rights

The Rights and Freedoms Department at the Southern Transitional Council today held a training workshop on ‘ The Rule of Law and Human Rights’ under the slogan ‘Seventy years Since  the Human Rights Declaration ‘

The workshop which is held in the capital Aden, will last for two days. Twenty seven participants who represent the Security Belt Forces and Aden Security Forces will take part. The workshop will discuss information on the rights and responsibilities which are tasked upon those forces in practicing their duties, which they will comply with and act upon in accordance with the Constitution and the law to maintain their rights and the rights of others.

Member of the presidium of the STC head of the Rights and Freedoms department Lawyer Niran Souqi, said that the aim of the training workshop is to increase the awareness amongst the security forces in general and to erase the negative image which some people attempt to tarnish them with and work to prevent any shortcomings when performing their duties.

Souqi added that on the second day of the training workshop ten of the participants (five from each security force) will be entrusted to do field visits to their camps to transfer all the knowledge and information they received in the workshop, in order to define the individual rights and responsibilities and duties .They will also raise banners and distribute awareness posters in the camps to deliver a clear message about the rule of law and human rights.
